Capitulates the fort of Vincennes

La Commune de Paris. Monday 29 May 1871. The fort of Vincennes capitulates. This post has never been involved in the fighting because of its decentralized position and the proximity of the occupying Prussian troops. After lowering the red flag, the fort surrenders without firing a shot. As soon as the garrison was disarmed, the officers were executed by troops from Versilia.

Now everything is really over. Thiers, the head of the government of Versailles, telegraphs to the prefects and about Paris and the Parisian insurgents states: "The ground is strewn with corpses; this appalling spectacle will serve as a lesson".
