Three highlights of today

La Commune de Paris. Thursday, May 18. There are three salient facts of today's day. The National Assembly, installed in Versailles, ratifies the Treaty of Frankfurt that had put an end to the Franco-Prussian war with serious territorial and economic losses on the French side. In the image Otto von Bismarck, on the left, with Favre and Thiers, seated, at the peace treaty.

In Paris, the public health committee orders the closure of ten newspapers considered opponents of the Commune de Paris. The commission of the teaching of the Commune "considers, in fact of education, that the job of the woman is equal to that of the man".
